ABS™

ABS is an open framework created by Ironbridge Systems, Inc. to fill the gaps between operational systems, software solutions, and strategic decision-making. ABS adds value by providing business analysts with tools that go beyond the capability of software solutions to analytically address operational needs and business goals.

With ABS, analysts are able to fit their customized approach to meeting business goals and identifying and resolving specific business concerns with an adaptable open framework, rather than adapting their approach to fit a software solution with a limited scope-of-use. Unlike most software solutions, ABS’s open framework is adaptable because its data model was designed to be configurable to any analytical need.

Customizable metrics give ABS the flexibility and scalability to adapt to a wide array of analytical needs. ABS also includes very powerful data visualization modules that can be customized to generate various types of charts and graphs, as well as interface with mapping and GIS modules.

ISI’s web-based Analytics and Business Systems Framework (ABS) was recognized by a number of clients as the differentiator in their ability to optimize their success. ABS is currently in use in the retail and commercial real estate industries, as well as in the government and non-profit sectors.

Components

ABS is made up of six key modules: 1) Data Adaptor Module, 2) Analytics Module, 3) Business Interface Module, 4) Core Data Framework, 5) Administration Module, and 6) Demographic Analysis Module.

Data Adaptor Module

ABS uses a customizable module to gather data from one or more systems. The data collection process maps, entities, and attributes to data elements from the source systems and loads the data into the framework for use by the reporting and customization module. The input module can extract data from RDBMS systems, formatted files, and web service API’s. Once the proper entity/attribute mapping is setup the process can be run manually or through an automated schedule. This module is intended for system and data administrators.

Analytics Module

This module is used to define entities, attributes, metrics, and dimensions for use with the core framework and all other modules. Data sources and mapping targets are defined in the input module and configured for metrics and reports through the customization module. Once the basic mappings are established, analysts can easily configure custom metrics and dimensions based on combinations of attributes of entities defined. This module was created for analyst use.

Business Interface Module

This module provides an interface for business users to define standard and custom reports on metrics and performance. It provides multiple access levels and views to securely segregate data and administration privileges. Analysts can quickly create custom reports and generate output to a number of formats. The module is also capable of interfacing with other systems through a web services API for intra-application communication or real-time reporting dashboard.

Core Data Framework

Each of the component modules is integrated with the data model through the Core Framework. This module maintains the parameters that control consistent data integration, business logic, and operational scheduling.

Administration Module

This module is for operational administration of the system, and is typically used by the application administrators.

Demographic Analysis Module

This module integrates demographic information to enable specialized analyses such as trade area analysis, location modeling, and customer segmentation.
